The mistakes it catches most often
| Mistake | Wrong | Right |
|---|---|---|
| their / there / they’re | Their going home. | They’re going home. |
| its / it’s | Its important. | It’s important. |
| Subject–verb agreement | The team have finished its work and are… | The team has finished its work and is… (US) |
| Past participle | I’ve wrote it. | I’ve written it. |
| lose / loose | We loose time. | We lose time. |
| Pronoun case | Me and my team started. | My team and I started. |
| Comma splice | It rained, we stayed in. | It rained, so we stayed in. |
Collective nouns like “team” take a singular verb in American English and often a plural one in British English, which is why the US/UK switch matters.
Questions people ask
Is this grammar checker free?
Yes, free with no account, for up to 12,000 characters per check.
How do I see what was corrected?
Show fixes marks every removed word with a strike-through and every added word with a caret, so you can see and learn from each correction. Switch to Clean for the final text.
Does it rewrite my style?
No. It is told to change as little as possible: spelling, grammar, punctuation and clear word-choice errors only. For smoother phrasing use the rewriter in Fluent mode.
American or British English?
Choose US or UK spelling and punctuation conventions before checking, for example "color" vs "colour" or "organize" vs "organise".
Can it miss errors?
Yes. AI checkers catch most common mistakes but can miss some or, rarely, "fix" something that was correct. Read the marked changes before accepting them.
